I decided to look at further education options and that's when I met Gill. Although I had completed Year 12, I hadn't studied for 20 years. Initially, I thought the best course for me was in business and I enrolled into a foundation program that equipped me with the skills to succeed at university. It was during this time that I kept actively exploring my options by having ongoing conversations with Gill. As a mature age student, Gill made me feel supported and listened to my story with a genuine validity. We discussed my busy lifestyle and how I would manage a study workload on top of that. We came up with strategies that allowed me to continue to parent, work and study successfully. I think Gill's best advice was to pursue my interests and passions rather than what I perceived I should be studying. I have now successfully completed an Associate Degree in Sustainability and I have relocated to the Gold Coast where I am actively pursuing a career in sustainable community development.
